Your Colombia visa application was returned
Correct the exact request, then review the whole package before uploading it again.
This guide covers the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs process and technical file preparation. It does not interpret your eligibility or replace the instructions in your message.
The visa authority may give an applicant up to 10 calendar days to answer a requirement. Use the deadline in your own message. Additional documents must be uploaded through the existing SITAC application, not sent to official email addresses.

Read the request literally
Separate the officer's message into individual actions. “Legible and complete copy” may require a new scan, not another pass through a compressor. “Current” may require a newly issued certificate. Do not assume a technical edit can solve a legal or factual problem.
Return to the existing application
Use the application number already assigned to your case. The Ministry's requirement guide says this number must be completed when answering. Do not open a second application or remove previously submitted evidence unless the authority expressly tells you to do so.
In the Supporting Documents section, add what the message requests. If the new material does not match a named box, the official guide instructs applicants to combine the documents into one PDF and upload that file in an available box.
Common document failures
- Illegible: small print, stamps or signatures break apart when enlarged.
- Incomplete: a reverse side, translation, apostille or continuation page is missing.
- Wrong orientation: a page opens sideways or upside down.
- Wrong file: the filename is correct but the contents belong to another requirement or person.
- Unsigned or unfinished: a signature, date or template field was overlooked.
Do a final-page review
Open the exact files you intend to resubmit. Check the first and last page, then zoom into every official mark. Confirm names, document numbers and dates against the application. If the original scan is weak, return to the paper document and scan it again. Recompressing a bad source cannot recover missing detail.
Confirm that SITAC saved the answer
After uploading, check that every file appears in the application and that earlier supporting documents remain present. The Ministry recommends downloading the complete application PDF and checking that each document is included and in good condition. Continue to the confirmation section, complete the requested fields and save the application.

Before saving
- Match every numbered request with one clear response.
- Confirm the applicant's name and document number in every file.
- Check signatures, dates, translations and complete page sets.
- Open the processed copy and inspect small text, seals and codes.
- Keep a copy of the exact files and confirmation record.
Technical or substantive correction?
A technical problem concerns size, orientation, missing pages or unreadable scans. A substantive problem concerns what the document proves, its date, issuer or legal sufficiency. The browser tool helps with technical files only. When the message asks for new information or a current certificate, obtain that document before preparing the PDF.
Keep an evidence trail
Keep the requirement message, untouched originals, corrected copies and the final application PDF downloaded from SITAC together. This lets you confirm exactly what was submitted if another message arrives.
